Just to keep the record straight and give some explanation to inquiring minds as to why I’m taking time to write on current issues and documenting my thoughts concerning topics that are facing us as a nation and the church. I grow increasingly weary as I become aware of the absence of a biblical worldview among those of us who consider ourselves believers. We’ve allowed our perception of issues whether moral, ethical, political, social, environmental, etc. to be molded by the philosophical and intellectual concepts promoted through the cultural mediums of our post modern society. Truth has become subjective in the community of most believers. We hold our opinions to a higher value than fact, and truth is only validated when it agrees with our opinion. This is a fundamental problem in the church and has become the root cause of corruption, confusion and delusion.

I have those who accuse Christians of being void of reason when it comes to intellectual thinking. Let me simply respond to this claim by saying, rational thinking is the process of taking one’s opinion or idea and analyzing it through the microscope of truth. Truth is never an empty statement of debatable thoughts, but principles that are proven by cause and effect. I would be the first, and have often been quoted as saying Christians are some of the dumbest people on earth. This is not because the principles of our faith are inaccurate, but misrepresented by those who claim to believe in what they do not know, and clearly do not understand. Even the bible instructs those who believe to be able to give reason for the hope we have. But this is a problem when we don’t really know the word of God or we simply acquaint ourselves with what we agree with and what validates our elevated opinions or ideas and ignore what we don’t like or may conflict with our thinking.

We will always be people of opinion. I the foremost of all, but I do my best to keep my opinion subjected to the principles that govern my life into godliness. Many believers are living their lives in shadows. This is the condition of standing where light is being intercepted by a foreign object. How can we be the light if we choose to live void of truth? Truth is not to be a fondant icing that molds to the substance of our ideas of philosophies, but rather our opinions should be pliable to the substance of truth. We have to regain a biblical worldview in this present day of darkness. This is the perception of this age through the lens of biblical truth. The days we live will only grow darker, and we must regain a love for the truth to become the light that Christ intends us to be so we may shine.

  1. Jason says:

Amen to that. Truth has stumbled in the streets in our land and I believe there are many churches throughout our country filled with more false converts than believers, and false prophets abound. It’s time for believers to test ourselves to see if we are in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5) and make our calling and election sure (2 Peter 1:10)
